Reclaiming My Power as a Woman: A Journey of Self-Discovery

For much of my life, I was taught to be quiet, nice, and to fit in. Like many women, I absorbed the belief that my worth was tied to how small I could make myself, how agreeable, selfless, and pleasing I could be. However, over time, a quiet voice within began to rise up. It was a voice that didn’t want to shrink. This voice wanted to create, speak, and take up space.
That voice is my power. I am learning to listen to it.

A Transformative Experience
My journey of reclaiming power as a woman intensified after a recent breathwork session with the incredible Meredith at The Marigold Way. During this session, I was given permission to feel all the emotions that accompany stepping into my feminine power. I learned that breath, body, and spirit are gateways to remembering and reclaiming our true selves. I left feeling cracked open—in the most beautiful way—and deeply inspired to infuse more sensuality into my art and life.
Understanding Sensuality
Sensuality, I realize, extends beyond touch or intimacy. It embodies presence. It’s the way I run my hands over soft clay and how the steam curls from my morning tea. It’s also the sun warming my skin as I sit at the wheel. Creating from this space infuses each piece with soul, turning it into an act of reverence. It represents a quiet revolution. Pottery taught me that creation is power, and beauty is born from intention and surrender. Every vessel, like every woman, is shaped by both pressure and grace.
The Impact of Motherhood
As a mother, this reclamation of power feels even more sacred. I am not just healing for myself; I am healing for my children. I want them to experience a world where their voices are honored. I want them to understand that softness is strength. I want them to feel they never need to abandon themselves to be loved. Each time I choose to speak my truth, I model self-respect and self-love. This planting of seeds in them nurtures confidence, sovereignty, and belonging.
Embracing the Process of Growth
This process is not perfect. I still catch myself holding back at times and succumbing to self-doubt. Each day, I reflect: What does it mean to live in full alignment with my truth? On some days, the answer is bold, setting a new boundary or expressing a loud yes. Other days, it’s soft, embracing rest, ritual, and reflection.
Reclaiming our power is not just a personal journey; it's collective. When one woman rises, she lights a path for others. This is why I share my story. I don’t have it all figured out, but I believe in the sacred ripple effect of healing.
Your Journey Matters
So wherever you are on your journey, whether you’re whispering your truth for the first time or roaring it from the mountaintops, know this: You are powerful. You are sacred. You are enough.
Want to reflect on your own journey? I have included some journal prompts that helped me reconnect with my truth. Light a candle, pour some tea, and give yourself the gift of presence. Your power is just waiting to be uncovered.
